Mailing vs Newspaper

Just in case you hadn't heard here is some info on the way Valassis distributes the Red Plum to some larger cities!

This is affecting a lot of newspapers across major cities in the states of Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New jersey, Utah, Virginia, Washington DC, North Carolina, Maryland and Texas.

This is the press release about this:
“Starting in February, the RedPlum coupon booklet will now be delivered in Cleveland through consumers’ mailboxes along with their weekly grocery circulars and other savings and deals. By using direct mail, the RedPlum insert will now be able to reach almost twice as many Cleveland households as in the past. In these challenging economic times, it has never been more important to make these essential savings available to as many Clevelanders as possible so they can stretch the dollars in their wallets.” -Thomas Murray, Vice President of the Valassis Corporation"

Here are cities they are ONLY available through the mail. Those cities are marked and with a “*”. The other cities still have some areas with the inserts in the newspapers.

Here are the cities currently affected:

ATLANTA, GA
CHARLOTTE, NC
CLEVELAND, OH*
ERIE, PA* (Buffalo, NY has the insert)
FITCHBURG, MA
HOUSTON, TX
INDIANAPOLIS, IN
LAS VEGAS, NV*
LEXINGTON, KY
MEMPHIS, TN*(suburban papers contain the insert)
MILWAUKEE, WI
NORFOLK - RICHMOND, VA
PHILADELPHIA, PA
PHOENIX, AZ
PITTSBURGH, PA*
PROVIDENCE, RI*
QUINCY - BROCKTON, MA
SAN DIEGO, CA
SEATTLE - TACOMA, WA
ST. LOUIS, MO
WASHINGTON DC*(suburban papers contain the insert)

I sure am glad my city isn't being affected by this! If you only get one newspaper, then for most it won't affect you. But those people who buy multiple ones for more inserts it's kinda gonna be a bummer!
