Homeschooling in CA

I was gonna post on this the other day but never got around to it with all the stuff going on.
But I wanted to just atleast link you up to some good writing on this topic of California's Court of Appeal's recent decision over homeschooling.

Over at Biblical Womanhood they have an article up on California Call-to-Action Campaign .
Go sign the petition from HSLDA!!!!

STAND UP for your rights as parents! They say that a parent has to be a certified teacher in order to homeschool. NO YOU DON'T! You are the GOD given teacher in your child's life. You should be able to have the option to homeschool if you want to!
You dont have to be a homeschool right now, nor be in CA. to be able to sign the petition! Just stand up for your freedom! Share

Middle School Birth Control Policy Provokes Conservative Legal Action
By
Katherine T. Phan
Christian Post Reporter

A conservative Christian legal group said Thursday it will proceed with a lawsuit against a Maine school district over its refusal to reconsider its
birth control policy, which allows students as young as 11 to receive prescription contraceptives without parental knowledge or consent.
The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), which specializes in
constitutional law, contends that the Portland School Committee is not only usurping parental authority but also violating a Maine law by not reporting all illegal sexual activity involving children 13 years old or younger.
“This is an issue where the rights of parents must be protected,” said Jay Sekulow, chief counsel of the ACLJ, in a statement Thursday.
Meanwhile, more than 40,000 Americans nationwide, including hundreds of Maine residents, have signed a petition urging school officials to change a policy they consider to be “flawed” and “dangerous,” the ACLJ reported Thursday.
Earlier this week, the group sent a letter to the Maine district committee asking officials to modify the “deeply troubling” policy or be prepared to face a lawsuit.
“The failure of health center personnel to report all instances of sexual activity involving young children endangers the safety of those children and must be corrected. Moreover, the Committee’s decision to offer prescription birth control to children as young as 11 years old tramples upon parental rights and has the effect of promoting illegal sexual activity,” the letter states.

How can you put something in your mouth that costs as much as a very expensive car????
Thats what I want to know!!!

By Vivianne Rodrigues

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A day after New York City came up with a $1,000 bagel, a local restaurateur unveiled a $25,000 chocolate sundae on Wednesday, setting a Guinness world record for the most expensive dessert.

Stephen Bruce, owner of Serendipity 3, partnered with luxury jeweler Euphoria New York to create the "Frrozen Haute Chocolate," a blend of 28 cocoas, including 14 of the most expensive and exotic from around the globe.

The dessert, spelled with two Rs, is infused with 5 grams (0.2 ounces) of edible 23-karat gold and served in a goblet lined with edible gold. At the base of the goblet is an 18-karat gold bracelet with 1 carat of white diamonds.

The sundae is topped with whipped cream covered with more gold and a side of La Madeline au Truffle from Knipschildt Chocolatier, which sells for $2,600 a pound.

It is eaten with a gold spoon decorated with white and chocolate-colored diamonds, which can also be taken home.

This has me in a state of shock! What are we coming to????

Middle School Gives Students Birth Control Pill

It’s a new low in the culture wars.

Yesterday the Portland, Maine School Committee approved a plan that allows the health center of King Middle School to provide birth control pills and patches to students in the sixth grade. Parental consent or knowledge is not required. In fact, it is outlawed.

Under Maine state law, once a parent has signed a waver allowing a child to be treated at a school clinic in case of sickness or injury, specific treatment is "confidential." Students (kids) decide for themselves whether to tell their parents about the services they receive.

It has also been revealed that the same middle school has been distributing condoms to students as young as eleven years old since 2002.

Polygamist sect leader arrested in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (AP) — After more than a year on the run and three months on the FBI's Most Wanted List, the charismatic leader of a polygamous sect was captured during a routine traffic stop and now faces charges he arranged marriages between underage girls and older men.
Warren Steed Jeffs, 50, was arrested without incident just outside Las Vegas late Monday, the FBI said Tuesday. No weapons were found, but the 2007 red Cadillac Escalade he was riding in was filled with items including three wigs, 15 cellphones, $54,000 in cash and $10,000 in gift cards, authorities said.
Jeffs leads the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a group that broke away from the Mormon church a century ago. He is said to have at least 40 wives and nearly 60 children.
Church dissidents say that underage marriages — some involving girls as young as 13 — escalated into the hundreds under his leadership, and that he broke apart families by casting out married men and reassigning their women and children to others.

Sad thinking about all those children born into this and being sucked into the belief system that this is ok... :-(
I saw something once on tv showing the lives and warped way of living that these people believe really is good. I just cried for the women and children.
