Eating "real" food!

Last night we gave Joshua his first bite of food... I don't say "real food" cause yuck who would say baby rice food is real food! ROFL!

He was very interested in it! Is mommy acctualy going to GIVE me that stuff they have been putting in there mouth!!!

Oh and Daddy walked in the door! Super excited Daddy is home AND I'm getting food!

So Um, Mommy can we get on with this thing? I wanna eat!

SERIOUSLY! This is what you guys have been doing all along? That is SO not cool mommy! And I'm pretty sure you tricked me and the is NOT what you have been eating!

I also have a video of him eating I will be putting on Youtube later for your enjoyment!

Update: Here is the Video!

I think we will be going with the veggie or fruit next time! No plain rice cereal cuase thats just plain mean!

When I forget... this is how I am reminded!

Sometimes I get to thinking "WHY am I DOING this" when it comes to coupons and the way I shop...

But then at the end of the day when I come home scoring all this:

for this:

$11.27 cash at Walmart and Walgreens
(I use coupons, sales, and RR)

That is 6 packs of diapers folks! And coconut icecream!!!!!!!

This is why I clip those coupons, shop those sales, and thank my father for providing for us! Share

6 months old!!!

Jan 25, 2010
My sweet little baby turned 6 months old!!!! I don't know where the time has gone but it has flown by so fast!

He weighs 18.12 lbs and is 26 1/2 inches long and is one healthy little man.

He sits up very well and can now sit from a crawling stance.
He can crawl and scooch to get where he wants. He also does this funny pushup thing on his hands and feet when he crawls sometimes and it cracks me up!
He dosnt have any teeth yet but they are getting close it looks like.
He sleeps for 8-10 hours at night which is nice.
He sure is a happy baby!

Love my little boy!

Picture to follow later as my computer is down and I'm relying on my iPhone for Internet! Share

A memory of a grandma

My husband's Grandma Betty went on to be with the Lord sometime during the night last night. Today was her 77th birthday. She had been married to Grandpa Jake for 42 years. WOW.

I have only know this special grandma for about 3 years now. But she had a special place in my heart.

You see back in July of 08 we had just found out we were expecting our first baby, we had told no one yet. We had just gotten back from a trip to CA and were on the way to Houston to 50th anniv. party for the Jordan Grandparents.

While in Houston the whole family went up to see Grandpa Jake and Grandma Betty in the nursing home where they lived together. She had Alzheimer's and didn't always know who everyone was but she was still very much happy to see us all.

We visited, had lunch with them and enjoyed it as much as I'm sure they enjoyed us all being there.

When it was time to go everyone was saying there goodbyes and heading out of the room and there was a few of us left in the room, I was telling her goodbye and gave her a hug.

I stepped back about ready to head out the door and she looked at me with this very knowing look...

To this day I remember her laughing and saying.

Girl, you got a secret, what aren't you telling me. Your pregnant aren't you. I bet you are. Yup you are, you can tell me I will keep it a secret. (Of course she is saying this out loud for all to hear :-D )

And a look must of passed my face that said HOW DID SHE KNOW. Because she got this huge grin on her face like she KNEW. And said "ok I won't tell anyone. I know you are." *wink wink*

I looked at my husband and we both just kind of laughed and everyone went on with their goodbyes.
How did she know I always wondered.
A week later I had a miscarriage of our sweet baby.
So know today when I think of our dear sweet grandma who has passed on from this life today I wonder if she is getting to meet my sweet little one before I even get to. Celebrating life with our Lord.
What a wonderful birthday for her it must be. Share

Joshua and his Carseat...

The other day I was trying to get some stuff put away from shopping in the kithen and the floor was cold and so I put Joshua in his old carseat which was sitting on the floor in there.
Well he figure out how to get out of it pretty fast. The first time (which of COURSE is not on video) was the best as he grabbed ahold of the bar above him and kind of pulled himself to a sitting postion and scooted on out of it.
But being the fun kind of parents we are we put him BACK in to see if he would do it again and so we could of COURSE catch it on video! :-D
He didn't quite do the same thing but it was still awesome. :-D
Enjoy!

These days

On days like this when my son is a happy little man except when I walk out of his sight and he starts bawling like the world is going to end, I'm reminded that even I need someone to care for me. My son is reminding me of that in his little ways....

Thankful for my heavenly father who loves and cares for me even on these days.

So I will spend these days loving on my son knowing one day he won't think twice when I'm walking away from him. Share

Sigh...

I would totaly not put my son in his Cloth diapers just to see his rolls and take cute pictures of him.... :-D

And I would NEVER sit and laugh at him when he got stuck under the tv cabinet and couldn't figure out how to get out... then take several pictures of him cuase he was so just darn cute!

And of course I would NEVER GIVE him 2 passy just to laugh at how he would try to get both in his mouth...

of course not!

Almost time to start food...

Can you BELIEVE my son is almost 6 months old? He will be on the 25th! I'm not sure where the time went but it has FLOWN by that is for SURE!

He has his 6 month dr apt and shots this next monday. I weighed him the other day on my home scale which is pretty on the dot and it says he was 18 1/2 lbs. And he sure feels like it so I'm pretty sure thats what the Dr. scale will say to. :-)

At Joshua's 4 month appt. the dr. had told me it was fine to put off feeding him food if I wanted till 6 month becuase most BF babies don't even want it. Which was FINE with me cuase thats what I was planning on doing.

So I don't have a set date but sometime soon we will be starting our lil guy on food. I'm nervous about it becuase of his allergies, but am trusting God to protect my lil one in all of this.

We are starting with Rice cereal of course... but from there I havn't set a game plan yet! Oye! I'm guessing my lil' guy will like food cuase he wants it SO bad when we eat it. But then again he might eat it and decide he hates it. :-P  But he sure reaches it and is so intrested in why we get to put things in our mouth and tell him no. :-D

So, who knows, my next post might be about having baby food in my hair... rofl Share

From socks to ice cream....

I gave one of sisters my camera to use while she is in New York with her honey on vacation (sigh sounds wonderful eh!) so I'm really loving that my iPhone takes pretty good pictures! (BTW I have almost 1000 pic on it and I have only had my phone for 2 months maybe???? OYE! Need to transfer them all over to the computer to save them!)

Helping mommy with laundry!
That or hiding out so he doesn’t have to fold the dreaded sock pile! Does anyone like folding socks? I despise them.... which is a big reason I love wearing flip flops as LONG as possible till your toes freeze off here in South Texas! I grew up in a large family (I'm one of nine if you already didn’t know that!) And it always seemed like no matter WHO did laundry the NO ONE ever folded the socks! They would throw them back into a big basket and there they would sit.... we all avoided it like it had a monster in it. And if mom went anywhere near that basket and you were in her range you got to fold them all. And it seems like me, being the oldest girl, SOMEHOW ended up being the one to have to fold them... sigh. so I dislike them. ALOT..... yah my husband laughs and helps me fold them on occasion now.

So yes one day I will make my son fold the socks... and if he has siblings they can help. There will be a family sock folding event so I don't have to fold them all. :-D

My lil' bath loving man!

Dressed up to go out today... SUPER Cold for South Texas!

And can I say my son is getting back into his normal pattern of sleeping ALL NIGHT again! 9-10 hours a night! Oh man I am LOVING it! Sigh....

Well my sweatheart is scooping me out some yummy coconut ice cream I bought today and I'm gonna pour some goodness dark chocolate syrup over it, and add a sprinkling of peanuts and enjoy each bite of it!

Sigh

Kinda makes up for having to fold socks......

Can we say Cheese?

The other day I came across some people talking about recipes for Velveeta Cheese on a Coupon site I go to alot, then today a friend of mine was blogging about a recipe she had for Queso with it in it (a must). And I must say I have not drooled over food in awhile but I seem to be drooling over the thought of cheese so much lately! Why? Becuase I can't have it....

When my son was a bit over month old, I came across some info on having a Dairy allergy after trying to find out if babies can be allergic to "seasonal" allergies. And all of my sons problems seems to fit everything they were talking about to a T! So I decided to try out going off Dairy for 3 weeks (It takes the long for it to clear out of mom's then babies when nursing) just to see if it did any good.

1 week off of it my son had a HUGE change in some of his problems. I was shocked.... and scared. I love dairy to much!!!!

By 3 weeks off of dairy Joshua had cleared up alot of his problems but not all. I snuck in bits of dairy here and there and paid for it later when it hit his system. But deep down I wasn't 100% sure of my self diagnosis of him being allergic to dairy. I loved my dairy to much.

I cont' on my diet of trying to be CF (Dairy allergy is known as a Casein Allergy =CF) to my best ablities and we seemed to be doing good just not normal still. My son still projectile vomited instead of "spitting up" (ask anyone who held him for more than a few mins, my son became well known for giving people a awesome gift) and still did not have 100% normal stools but the foul smell was gone and his extreme diarrhea had gotten alot better. Along with his eczema, flushed face, and respiratory problems.

So after 3 months of CF I decided to go Gluten Free (GF = which is a wheat allergy) also to see if it helped at all with the rest of his problems.

After 2 weeks my son stopped his PV (projectile vomiting) and was a normal baby!

Mind you with ALL of his problems my son was still the most happy baby ever! He never screamed or had colic which made me wonder sometimes but I think he has a VERY high pain tolerence since being in the NICU for a week being poke SO many times!

So we are now a CF/GF family... and boy it is so hard! If I HAD to pick having to do one over the other I could TOTALY do GF any day over CF :-) Dairy is SO hard to give up! Its quite hard for a cheese lovin, heavy cream for coffee lovin kind of girl.

And to make me 100% sure of my craziness and help me KNOW I am not over doing it and being an over protective mommy, we had a set back not to long ago. I had eatin something that I thought was GF/CF and not checked and made 100% sure before I stuck it in my mouth, and I ate a good amount of it..... and my poor son reverted back to before diet problems for a few days before I could pin point WHY he was getting sick again... poor guy. It was bad. We still arn't 100% back to normal from it but are on the road to recovery and have 100% peace of mind that we are doing the right thing. Even if people think we are crazy! I will take not having my cheese any day over making my son sick. Makes being parents just a tiny bit easier when your 100% sure of something!

So, in saying all that, anyone got some awesome blogs or websites that have lots of good nummy recipes for CF/GF foods? I have learned to bake GF bread already with the help of a good friend. But need lots of different ideas for different foods before I go crazy eating the same ol same ol thing! Share

And a happy new year!!!!!!!!!

Happy New Years Everyone!
I hope this year brings you many blessings and joy to you and yours!

Our lil man is sitting up so well! He is getting big so fast its hard to keep up with it all! I am loving it but not liking it at the same time. Before I know it he will be a teenager! But not going there! I love my little bundle of joy and he makes me smile with everything he does. He is such a good little man even when he dosnt feel good that I'm in awe of it! So blessed!

Playing with his little monkey he got for Christmas!

Some of us (Joshua)  rang the new years in sleeping! :-D The rest of us watched a Jordan classic movie "Oscar" with peels of laughter thru the whole movie. Love it.

On new years we spent the day with my side of the family eating good food and playing games on my sisters Wii! Lots of fun but REALLY SORE! OWE OYE OWE!

And today I am taking down my Christmas Decorations.... cept maybe these. :-) One of my Christmas presents from my sweet darling hubby! He got me these to start my Carole Town Christmas Collection! I LOVE THEM! He knows me so well! :-D
But I have my sisters still staying with us today and they dont have to go home till this evening so I am hoping to use there help in getting it all put away a tad bit faster than I normal do! :-D Fun fun!
