Walgreens Info on Rebate Program

I just saw on another website info from Lisa at The Spot to Save that Walgreens corporate recently confirmed that they are canceling the EasySaver rebates program as of May.

SO SAD!

Here is the email she has:

"Thank you for contacting us regarding our recent decision to evaluate the EasySaver program in its current form. Walgreens is always looking into the future. For this reason, we are looking at ways to revamp the rebate program to assist us in proceeding in an exciting direction. Although change is always intimidating we feel that it is time to develop a new loyalty program so we can offer our consumers new and improved services. You will continue to find the EasySaver Catalog in our stores through April. Please look for future advertisement regarding our new programs to come.”

I guess we will find out soon what kind of system they will be going to. Share

Join a Co-op!

I recently had the opportunity to join a Produce Co-op. I thought it might be a way for us to have a variety of fresh fruits and veggies in our diet but not with the cost of buying it at the local store. And boy is it a good deal! I have been spending a good $30-$40 every 2 weeks JUST on fresh fruits and veggies and it's the same ol' same ol' thing. But with joining this co-op I am able to get MORE than I would normally buy for ALOT less! And I get the surprise of different items each week. I can't believe I haven't found something before this to get involved in!

This first time around my sisnlaw, momnlaw, and I all just split 2 shares as we where not sure how much fruit and veggies it would turn out to be. As it turns out we decided after goign thru what we got, we will all be getting our own fruit and veggie share separate. For the cost it is WELL worth the amount and variety that we get. I'm happy! Can't wait till 2 weeks from now when I get my full share along with the fruit share for more fruit! Looked good! Will have to live on what we got this week. :-)

Have you looked to see if you have any local co-op's around you? If not maybe start one! I have heard of organic, meat, milk, produce, and even whole gain type co-op's before! Try it out and you just might find that you save while your at it! Share

23 weeks!

At more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound I have hit 23 weeks! I am feeling more and more the affects of being pregnant.

I have lower back pains and problems sleeping due to my arms falling asleep when I am on my side and that makes my hands hurt all day. But I am taking all this with the fact that I KNOW I won't have these problems FOREVER! :-) LOL I do get discouraged and annoyed that I can't sleep and hurt but it's all for a little one who is safe and warm in me.

I am feeling MORE and more of this kid's kicks and moves. The other night it did this flip that was the weirdest but coolest thing I've ever felt. I love it when it moves. Hubs is able to feel more and more of its kicks but can't wait to just SEE it moving around. :-D

Only 2 more weeks till we find out what baby is! I'm getting SOOOO excited! Have you voted yet? It was swinging on the boy side by I think its becoming a close tie of people opinions of what I am carrying! I cant WAIT! We are gonna have a nice crowd of people in the US room when we find out. :-) My doc said SURE as long as they behave! So my poor hubs is gonna be surrounded by alot of girls that morning... who knows maybe he will have a lil' boy on his side at the end of it.. but then again he might just get more out numbered! :-D

I've been pretty busy doing things for after the baby is here. I started stocking up my freezer with some foods that we can eat after things have settled down and I am not up to cooking yet.
I don't want to have to worry if we are gonna get dinner that day if we've had a long one!

Here's a few things they say that happen this week with baby:
Blood vessels in its lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing its for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze baby when they hear them outside the womb. Baby has developed a hand grip reflex and startle reflex.

Fried Rice and Mexican Rice

Fried Rice
Makes about 6-7 cups of rice (3 meals worth or so)

Make 2 1/2 cups of white rice like you normally would.
Set aside to cool and make the following.

Scramble 6 eggs
Dice up a few green onions
Dice up about 1 cup of ham
Set aside.

In wok skillet, cook the rice with some oil in it.
Add in soy sauce till rice looks brown.
Then add ham, eggs, and green onions.

Let cool and put in bags to freeze.

Mexican Rice
Makes about 6-7 cups of rice (3 meals worth)

Brown 3 cups of white rice till nice and brown on stove on MED/HI. Stir often as it will burn quickly if left by itself!

Drain 1 can of diced tomato into a measuring cup.
Add 1 can of chicken broth and enough water to measure 6 cups of liquid total in measuring cup.

Add in 2 tablespoons ground cumin, 1/2 onion, 1 diced garlic clove, and the diced tomatoes to your browned rice. Stir up and add in your liquid. Let come to a quick boil and then turn down stove to low and let cook for 20-25 mins covered till rice is soft.

Cool and put in bags to freeze. Share

Cloth Diapers!

A few weeks ago I had put out a post about needing some help with info on Cloth Diapers. Well you all sure stepped in and helped me to decide what kind of diaper I wanted to use on our little ones bum! :-D

I settled for the FuzziBunz as I really like all the features on them. I had been leaning towards BumGenuis till I saw a video on youtube on how the "one size" diaper actually work. And they seemed like a HUGE pad of diaper for a little one. The snaps on them just snap to make it smaller but leave a very bulky padding on the kiddo that I didn't like.

The FuzziBunz diaper was the most like what I was looking for in a cloth diaper. It has adjustable elastic legs for a tighter fitting instead of all the snaps and adjusts for a 7-35 lbs baby. The outside of the diapers feel SO NICE! No plastic yucky feel! They have a nice pocket for the inserts and a fleece protector to keep the baby from gettin rashes from being wet.

I ended up being able to order the first two diapers thru Amazon.com for VERY cheap. I had some gift cards saved up from Swagbucks.com and with a rebate for signing up with Amazon.com I ended up spending a grand total of $2.77 for the two diapers! Not bad considering they are $18.99 normally plus shipping! I am saving up more gift cards to be able to get my set of diapers thru swagbucks.com Gotta love that site!

I LOVE them! They are SO CUTE! And were just like they described on the site. I am happy with my choice of diaper for baby.

See some great Frugal posts here. Share

This weeks Deals! Hot Diaper Deal!

Wow oh WOW! Did I score some awesome deals with those huggies coupons out right now! Thanks to some family and friends I was able to get quite a LOT of those $5.00 huggies coupons!
And with last weeks great deals to make some $$ I had quite alot of $$ to spend this week on the huggies deal.

I ended up with 14 packages of Huggies Diapers (40 and 44 ct), 7 packs of Huggies Wipes and several other items on sale this week!

So here's the totals!

Retail Total = $287.98
After sales = $253.25
Amount of Coupons used -$146.98
Total = $106.27
Used RR and Gift Card - $83.34
Total OOP = $22.93
Started out with $77.84 in RR and Gift Card
And ended up with $69.79 in RR and Gift card$!
So I lost $8.05 in Walgreen's money.
AND I am Submitting the Caregivers Marketplace Rebate for a $0.75 rebate per package
I have gotten so that totals $10.50 back!

So for EVERYTHING I got this week I have spent a total of $22.93 OOP, $8.05 in Walgreen's $$, and a rebate of $10.50 which totals out to a grand total of $20.48 spent!
If I did the math for the diapers and wipes packages alone that comes out to $0.98 cents a package!!!!!! But I have lots of other items also in this deal so its a pretty smokin hot deal! :-D
